What should I do if the cat is sick and refuses to take medicine? Teach you practical cat feeding skills! The cat is sick and needs to be treated with medicine in time, but we must have experience in peacetime. Medication for cats is really not an easy task. The cat will not let us hold and feed the medicine, unless it is weak to a certain level, the cat is agile and can slide off you quickly and hide. The various obstacles encountered in the process of feeding the medicine will reduce the effect of the medicine or cause waste, which we do not want to see.

Drugs can be divided into two types according to the form, one is solid and the other is liquid. Different, although it is difficult to feed cats medicine, but try a variety of medicine feeding methods, there is always one that works.

1. Standard method

1. Prepare the medicine .

Prepare the medicine, put it on a tissue, and place it near the cat's environment, so that when the cat's mouth is open, he can grab the pill and put it in his mouth . Medication aids are a bit like a pill syringe. The rubber tip holds the pill, and when the time comes, the plunger can be pushed and the cat will take the pill. A syringe filled with water can help your cat swallow the pill.

2. Raise the cat, wrap one arm around it, and open its mouth with the other hand. Placing your cat on a raised surface with a towel or blanket (such as a dresser or workbench) will work better.

3. Open the cat's mouth.

Pinch the cat's mouth open with the thumb and ring finger, and arch the nose with the middle and index fingers. Be careful not to block the nostrils with your fingers. The fingers should be on either side of the nose.

4. Put the medicine in the cat's mouth. If it seems difficult to swallow, you can take a little water to help it swallow. If you are feeding a pill, put it in the cat's mouth quickly. Be careful not to spray liquid medicine directly into your cat's throat or tongue. Liquids can easily flow into the trachea and may cause the cat to suffocate. For liquid medicines, a dropper should be inserted between the cat's cheek and teeth.

5. Slap the cat's throat, or hit the cat's nose quickly to encourage the drug to swallow.

6. Treat the cat gently throughout the process. This encourages the cat to swallow the medication and makes the feeding process less strenuous.

Second, other feasible methods

1. Medications in gel form, such as tubes (for hairball prevention), can be fed by any or a combination of the following methods. Put the desired dose of medicine on your finger and insert your finger into your cat's mouth. They are easy to lick. If your cat resists, or if there is any residue left on her hands, simply wipe the medication off her hands with the gel and apply it to the cat's paws or around the mouth. The cat will lick its paws and mouth clean and digest the gel.

2. When feeding pills, you can crush the pills and mix with cow's cheese. Apply to the cat's front legs. The cat will lick it clean immediately, which is equivalent to taking medicine.

3. Pill bags allow cats to swallow pills without realizing it.

4. Pick up the cat and bend your left arm into a cradle to gently rock it, like holding a child. Place your right index finger and thumb on either side of the cat's mouth and gently press his cheeks, holding the tablet in your right hand as you do all of this. When the cat opens its mouth, quickly toss the tablet in and let it close its mouth and swallow.

5. Get the cat back from the bedroom and throw away the pills stained with cat saliva. Peel the foil off the other tablet, wrap your left arm around the cat and firmly grasp its hind feet. Force him to open his mouth and use his right index finger to push the tablet to the back of his mouth. Hold its mouth, count to ten, then let go.

III. Precautions

1. If Taking liquid medicine, you can use a paper towel, cut a small mouth, let the cat dig its head in, as a bib, so that the medicine will not get all over the place.

2. Be sure to quickly put the pills into the cat's mouth before you stand still with the cat and are about to resist. That's why it's best to have medicines ready before you get your cat under control.

3. If you need to take medicine through other parts, you must control the cat to keep still until the medicine is absorbed and will not drip out.
