Cats have a natural tendency to scratch, so be prepared to do so before you decide to keep them. Although cats like to grind their claws everywhere, they can also be trained in the later stage to keep them from grinding their claws, so as to avoid damage to important items in the home. In order to protect the furniture, it is very important to start training cats to sharpen their claws from an early age. Even if the cat has a bad habit of scratching claws, it can be corrected in the following ways. 1. Protect furniture Spray some things that cats don't like in the places where cats are used to grinding their claws, such as lemonade, toilet water, balsamic essence, vinegar, etc. If the cat smells it, it will run away, but this method will not last, and the smell will dissipate, and the cat will still run over. Put tin foil and double-sided tape on the furniture. Cat's claws don't like the feel of these things, and can protect furniture from damage to a certain extent. 2. Training methods The first thing to do is to prepare a special tool for cats to sharpen their claws. You can buy or make your own. You can prepare a few more pieces, put them in the place where the cat likes to grind their claws, and sprinkle some catnip on it to attract it. And once you find that the cat is grinding its claws on the furniture, tell it no and take it to a place specially designed for claws. If the cat is not very obedient, you can spray it with water when it is grinding its claws, so that it can form a conditioned reflex. But be careful not to spray it into your cat's ears. 3. Regular trimming If the cat is not allowed to go outside, it is best to trim the cat's nails regularly to prevent the nails from being too long and too sharp.
