Raising fish first raises water This is the only rule for successful fish farming. Raising water is not the clearer the better. The ancients said: When the water is clear, there will be no fish. Therefore, those who want to keep fish must first know how to keep water. Water can be roughly divided into four types.
Water can be divided into four types:
1. Fresh water
That is, tap water that has been dried (more than 24 hours). Although this water is very clean, because there is no nitrifying bacterial community in the water, fish excrement and food residues are decomposed into ammonia after spoilage, which makes fish easily poisoned.
2. Back to clean water
The green water contains too much algae and microorganisms, which will deplete the oxygen in the aquarium, cause the death of algae and aerobic bacteria, and make the water It becomes a stagnant water that is crystal clear, devoid of oxygen and has a large number of anaerobic harmful bacteria.
3. Green water
The organic matter content in the water is too much, so cyanobacteria, green algae and brown algae multiply, the content of bacteria and microorganisms increases sharply, the water is thick green, Sometimes it emits a foul smell, which can easily cause the death of the whole tank of fish.
4. The old water
is light green or light amber, rich in humus and beneficial microorganisms and algae, and has established a good ecological cycle system. Decomposes into nitrates, which are harmless to fish. This water is extremely beneficial for the growth of fish.
Among the above four kinds of water, only the old water is our goal.
How to turn old water into new water? You can let the dead branches and leaves of some aquatic plants rot in the water, or bury several dead clams in the bottom sand to increase the humus in the water. A better method is to use a few cheap, strong and easy-to-raise fish to break the tank in a newly set up aquarium. After a few days of feeding, a certain amount of ammonia is produced in the water. At this time, a small amount of ammonia can be added. Nitrifying bacteria, and then rearing for a few days plus a small amount of nitrifying bacteria. Repeated several times, the nitrifying flora can be established in about a month. Nitrifying bacteria are aerobic bacteria. Therefore, it is best to keep the oxygen pump and filter on during the water raising process.
Because the ammonia content in the water is very low at the beginning, even if more nitrifying bacteria are added, they will die due to lack of food, so the nitrifying bacteria should be gradually added quantitatively. Putting some bottom sand, filter cotton, etc. from the old tank in use into the tank and filter will speed up the aging of the water.
