Every dog owner knows that dogs will inevitably get sick and go to the pet hospital or groom their pets. But for dogs, it's really scary for a few strangers to hold the instrument and put themselves on an instrument table and press it back and forth. So how can dogs not be afraid of pet doctors and groomers?
1. Put a desk or writing desk at home first, pretending to be an instrument desk. Ask a few of your friends at the same time, pretending to be a vet or groomer.
2. Invite a friend into the house, then slowly and gently hold the dog to the table, and give it a little time to get used to being on the heights. Remember that the table top should not be too smooth, slipping will increase the dog's fear. In addition, if it is winter and the countertop is relatively cold, it is best to bring a small cloth for the dog to reduce the dog's discomfort.
3. Friends gathered around and pretended to check. At this time, the owner should keep stroking the dog's body, so that the dog can feel safe, and can also give the dog some food as a reward.
4. Practice more, let the dog gradually adapt until it can be calm on the table, and let everyone play with its ears, eyes, mouth, paws and buttocks. If the dog shows fear (such as licking its lips, pulling out its paws, opening its mouth, or panting), you need to help calm its emotions; if the dog can be quietly examined by a friend, you can ask your friend to give him some food as a reward.
Notes:
After the dog gets used to it gradually at home, try to find as many different people as possible to practice with the dog in different places. This works best until it accepts fiddling everywhere.
