Can dogs eat salt? Do not exceed the total amount of food 1% of the amount
Can dogs eat salt? Too much salt is not good for the dog's kidneys and fur, but it is not advisable not to eat a little salt. Salt is a must for dogs, but not too much. In general, it should account for 1% of the feed.
If humans lack salt, they are prone to fatigue, and dogs are the same. Not only are they prone to fatigue, but they are also prone to stagnation of growth, dry skin, and shedding of fur. It is suggested that the required amount of salt should be more than 1% in dry dog food with 10% moisture content, which means that a dog with a weight of 1kg needs 22g of dry matter per day. Then the salt needs to be 242mg after accounting, but the actual dry matter requirement is usually 14~15g, so the actual amount of salt given is roughly 165mg per 1kg body weight/day.
According to this conversion, a 35kg wolf dog only needs 6g/day of salt, and the salt mix ratio of general dry dog food in the market is analyzed, and it should be about 1.4%. If you still find symptoms related to salt deficiency, you may wish to increase it slightly in the diet, but it should not exceed 2%, that is, the adult dog food is limited to 8g per day.
Note: If you usually feed your dog dog food, because the manufacturer has already added salt to the commercial dog food, you usually don't need to add salt to your dog.
