The English Springer is a medium-sized sporting dog with a compact, stocky body and a docked tail. Moderately wavy, with feathering on the limbs, ears, and chest. Lop ears, a relaxed expression, a steady body and a friendly wagging tail indicate that it is indeed a member of the old hound family. Its body is very well-proportioned, but not overly well-proportioned in any part.
1. Feeding Springer should be timed, quantitative, and fixed. Timing can develop Springer's timing conditioned reflex, secrete gastric juice, increase appetite, and promote digestion and absorption. Generally, adult Springer is fed twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, and can be fed a little more at night.
For springers under 2.1 years old, feed 3 times a day; for springers under 3 months old, feed 4 times a day; for pups under 2 months old, feed 5 times a day. The dog's food pattern can be refurbished, but the quantity should be relatively stable. The feeding location can be inside or outside the kennel, but Springer spaniels are generally fed in the kennel. The purpose of a fixed location is to keep the environment relatively stable and easy to manage. Some Springers will experience refusal and loss of appetite when changing feeding places.
3. Except in summer, it should be fed with warm feed. The temperature of the feed should preferably be around 40°C, not too cold or overheated; cold food can be fed in summer, and the feed must be treated in winter. Warming, preferably around 35°C, below is suitable for hot hands. If the feed is too hot, it will not only affect the appetite, but also burn the teeth of dogs; too cold food will easily eat bad stomach. The food utensils for each dog should be fixed and do not use them indiscriminately. When feeding multiple dogs, pay special attention not to change the dog food bowls to prevent the spread of diseases. Wash them after feeding, and boil them regularly to sterilize them. Dogs have very regular lives, so it's best to position them for meals. When feeding, pay attention to observe the dog's eating situation. If there is leftover food or no food, it is necessary to find out the reason and take measures in time.
4. Take away the leftover feed immediately, do not leave it for a long time for the dog to eat at any time. Special care should be given to young Springer Spaniels and sick Springer Spaniels. It is best to feed young Springer Spaniels 4 times a day. The food should be added from less to more, from poor to excellent. The fixed food intake should be less and less, and it is not suitable to feed very full. The Springer Spaniel should be fed more liquid food, lean meat and eggs or irritating, digestible and nutritious food for the sick. Sick Springer Spaniels should drink plenty of clean water.
The English Springer Spaniel, first of all, consider the overall impression. Whether it looks typical, mainly includes the overall appearance and silhouette; and stability, including movement and temperament. For, if he has a smooth, easy gait, he must have a healthy and well-proportioned structure, which deserves great attention, but if he does not look like an English Springer Spaniel at all, it cannot be condoned. If a dog's legs are too long or too short, and the head or expression is completely wrong, the action may be fine, but it is never preferable to a dog that is otherwise good and has some minor deficiencies in gait. It must be remembered that the English Springer Spaniel is first (and first) a member of the Spaniel family, a sporting dog and must meet this standard in appearance, manner and gait.
