The long-eared jerboa is known as the Mickey Mouse in the desert and likes to be active at night. Its forelimbs are as short as ordinary Mickey mice, and its hind limbs are about twice as long as its body. It is listed as one of the 100 most endangered species in the world and is listed as Endangered (EN) by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). On May 1, 2011, the staff of the Flaming Mountain Scenic Area in Turpan, Xinjiang found a long-eared jerboa under the Flaming Mountain.
