I. Is it easy to raise chameleons?

Breeding box. This crawler should be kept in a large but not too short terrarium with climbable branches and plants. Proper ventilation settings are essential for species from tropical rainforests. However, it should be avoided that the wind blows directly through the ventilation holes, and the accumulation of moisture should also be avoided. At the same time, try to ensure that the breeding box has natural sunlight. The ideal condition is that the chameleon is exposed to sunlight for 30 minutes a day. The best sunlight time is in the morning and before meals. Under natural light, the color of the chameleon will be brighter and brighter.

Temperature. The main condition for raising chameleons is the maintenance of temperature. Chameleons are cold-blooded animals and have very high requirements for temperature. Usually the temperature should be kept at 28~32℃ during the day and 22~26℃ at night. If the chameleon is in a low temperature state for a long time, the chameleon will lose its appetite and slow down its growth, and even affect its health. And the place where the chameleon originates is different, and the feeding temperature is different: the temperature of the species from the tropical rain forest should be adjusted between 24~28°C during the day; the mountain species is 22~25°C, and it is necessary to cool down at night. The appropriate temperature is 10~15°C. A light source that emits heat is also needed, as chameleons like to gather under lights at dawn to keep warm.

Food. Chameleons mainly eat insects and like a variety of foods. If fed a single food, they will appear anorexia or refuse to eat, and even die from hunger strike. Therefore, raising chameleons must provide them with sufficient and abundant food.

From the above two aspects of the chameleon's breeding environment and food, it is not difficult to see that its feeding requirements are relatively high and troublesome. In fact, it is very difficult to raise and reproduce chameleons, mainly because it is difficult to obtain healthy individuals. Most imported species have many parasites. The adaptation to the new environment after long-term transportation has also made the situation worse, and finally became out of control. .

Second, how to raise chameleons

The main food of chameleons can choose crickets, cockroaches and grasshoppers, and other species such as mealworms, corn worms, silkworms Worms and suckling mice can only be used as supplementary food, suckling mice are only suitable for feeding adults, and should not be fed more than one per month. But finding food for chameleons is still difficult for some friends, many of whom can't even find crickets, only mealworms. If you use mealworms as the main food for a chameleon, it means that it will slowly die! Problems that may arise from long-term feeding of mealworms include indigestion, various nutritional diseases, and refusal to feed.
