The etiology analysis and treatment effect statistics of 68 dogs with keratitis diagnosed and treated since May 2005 were carried out. Most of them were caused by trauma, foreign bodies, improper drugs, and infections, and some of them were caused by unknown reasons. After treatment, 66 cases were cured, and the cure rate was 97.06%. Corneal ulcers that cause perforations are difficult to heal. So what are the symptoms of dogs keratitis in general? In traumatic keratitis, trauma marks can be seen on the surface of the cornea, and the injured part is rough and uneven. Corneal epithelium damage and secondary infection, the local formation of white bumps - corneal infiltration. When the cornea is ulcerated, the performance is embarrassing and tearful, and the vision is blurred. Or blepharospasm, and the cornea is cloudy with pale yellow or pure yellow. When there is a large area of ulceration, leukoplakia can be seen, and even corneal fistula can be caused.

Keratitis caused by inflammatory stimuli, mostly with corneal opacity. When the cornea is perforated, the aqueous humor surges out sharply, and the iris can be flushed to the wound, causing partial prolapse of the iris, adhesion between the iris and the cornea, and mydriasis.

1. Based on the principle of eliminating etiology, reducing inflammation and pain relief, and promoting absorption, it is a combination of local drug treatment and systemic treatment.

2. Rinse eyes with normal saline to remove foreign bodies and secretions in the eyes.

3. In the acute stage, when the cornea has not yet appeared suppuration, ulceration or perforation, use chloramphenicol eye drops and cortisone acetate eye drops alternately, 3 to 5 times a day. At the same time, systemic treatment is performed, with ampicillin sodium injection, compound aminopyrine injection, and dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, 1 to 2 times a day, for 2 to 7 days.

4. In case of viral keratitis, polymuscular injection or immune serum should be applied at the same time, once a day or once every day for 3 to 5 days.

5. In addition, symptomatic treatment should be given, if necessary, intravenous infusion of 5% glucose saline to improve systemic symptoms and improve animal resistance.

6. If keratitis is secondary to bacterial infection, suppuration, ulceration, or even perforation occurs, use 80,000 units of penicillin, add 0.5 ml of normal saline and mix it with eye drops, 3 to 5 times a day, at the same time Systemic treatment.

7. If the corneal perforation is severe, tarsal conjunctival covering can be performed to make an autologous eye bandage for the affected eye, which can effectively prevent the continued overflow of the ocular fluid and prevent the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms, which is beneficial to the damaged cornea. repair. Combined with inosine, vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, the effect is better.

8. Strengthen the care of sick dogs, minimize their outdoor activities, avoid strong light stimulation and gray sand falling into the eyes, avoid fighting with other dogs and hurt the sick eyes, and feed them with nutritious and easily digestible dogs. food.
