Nowadays, more and more people keep pets, and there are also many people who keep snakes and pigs. Now, more and more people like to raise some animals that seem to be impossible to raise, such as hedgehogs. Today, let's share how to raise hedgehogs.

How

1. Construction of feeding farms

Hedgehogs are very adaptable and have no strict requirements on the environment. However, hedgehogs have the habit of being quiet and afraid of light, and they are nocturnal. The site should be built in a quieter place and avoid human interference as much as possible. When building the yard, a courtyard must be built. The height of the courtyard wall is about 0.8-1m. The nest in the courtyard is divided into two parts: the inner nest and the outer nest. The inner nest is a nest, where hay, pine leaves or straws are laid. The outer den is a place for activities. Mounds or rockeries are built, and flowers and shrubs are planted to provide shade in summer and keep warm in winter, so as to make them as close to the wild environment as possible for them to forage, find mates, and perch. Generally, a 10m2 farm house can support 30-50 animals.

2. Breeding and breeding

Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals, and they can be fed with feed and water at one time around the evening. The feed can be artificially mixed and evenly mixed and cooked. Formula: corn flour 30%, wheat bran 20%, fine rice bran 10%, fish flour 5%, vegetable 30%, bone meal 2%, iodized salt 1%, oxytetracycline powder 1%, amino acid 1%, appropriate amount of trace elements. If the hedgehogs just caught in the wild are artificially domesticated, animal feed should account for 80% of the diet, and then gradually reduce as appropriate, and increase the proportion of plant feed. The feed to be fed must be fresh and clean, and the fruits and vegetables should be washed and fed. For example, the melons and vegetables bought from the market should be soaked in the pool for 1 hour, and then washed and fed to prevent pesticide poisoning. At the same time, the feed should be variety diverse, and a single feed will cause hedgehogs to bite each other and refuse to feed.

The standard diet for hedgehogs is: 50g for a weight of 50-150g, 75g for a weight of 150-300g, and 150g for a 300-600g. Hedgehogs eat a lot in summer, grow fast, go dormant in winter and eat very little.

Domestic hedgehogs should have one male and one female in the same litter. Generally, they mate naturally in April to May, with an annual output of 1-2 litters. Hedgehogs of 2-4 years old are capable of reproduction. The female hedgehog is restless during estrus, with secretions from the genitals. The gestation period is about 60 days, and each litter produces 4-6 litters, with a maximum of 8. Hedgehogs gain weight 35 days after fertilization, slow movement after 45 days, mild perineal edema, and seek grass to make a nest before giving birth. The newly born hedgehog has soft spines and no hair. After about 20 hours, the soft spines stand up and make a squeak sound. The newborn weighs 13-15g. The soft spines of the young hedgehog become hard and gradually increase after 3 days of birth. At the age of 10, the eyes are opened. At the age of 20, the teeth grow and can walk. At the age of 30, they can eat. The lactation period is 40-50 days. The average weight of a 3-month-old hedgehog can reach 320-350g, and the average monthly weight gain is about 100g. Between the lactation period and the 100 days after breastfeeding, it is the fastest growing stage of the hedgehog. Careful management is required to ensure and improve the skin's skin. quality and format.

3. Disease control

Common diseases of hedgehogs include gastroenteritis, dermatitis and ascariasis. Hedgehogs suffering from gastroenteritis have dull thorns, inability to walk, diarrhea, and refusal to eat. It can reduce the feeding amount of feed, and feed oxytetracycline, each 1 tablet is crushed and mixed into the feed for feeding, and fed 3 times a day. Gentamicin can also be injected, 25,000 units per intramuscular injection of the buttocks. For hedgehogs suffering from psoriasis, flaky skin can be rubbed with tinea ointment and skin light ointment. It can also be used to soak cut tobacco in vinegar for 24 hours and then add trichlorfon (crushed and mixed) to rub the affected part. Hedgehogs suffering from ascariasis, loss of appetite, drowsiness and weakness, can be fed with Ascaris net, 2 times a day, 1 tablet each time, for 2 days. Hedgehogs who are not suffering from ascariasis should also be dewormed twice a year to ensure the healthy growth of hedgehogs and improve fertility. Check whether the hedgehog is strong, look at the gloss of the spines, see whether the body is plump, and see the tightness of the spines.
