Mississippi diamondback tortoises feed on crustaceans, with low carapace, concentric rings and groove marks on the vertebral and rib shields, and a pale head with dark spots. There are many ways to distinguish between males and females of Mississippi diamondback turtles. If you look closely, there are very obvious structural differences between males and females. 1. The male Mississippi tortoise has a long tail and a thick base, forming an acute-angled triangle. The female Mississippiensis has a short tail and a small, striped base.
2. The male Mississippiensis tortoise has a cloaca on the tail, far from the rear edge of the plastron, and the hole is elongated. The female Mississippiensis has a cloaca on the tail, close to the rear edge of the plastron, and the hole is rounded.
3. The center of the plastron of the male Mississippiensis tortoise is slightly concave inward. The central plastron of the female Mississippiensis tortoise is flat without depression.
