The Columbian mud turtle enters hibernation naturally, with a cycle of about four to five months. However, the hibernation period should not exceed 20 weeks, and sometimes due to weather changes, the hibernation period will be shortened to about 4 to 6 weeks. Owners can give Columbia mud turtles a short and safe hibernation, which has good health benefits for Columbia mud turtles.

When the Columbian mud turtle hibernates , the temperature should be maintained at about 12-15 ℃, and the humidity in the tank should be gradually reduced, so that the physiology and psychology of the Colombian mud turtle can slowly adapt. The hibernating environment should be well ventilated, and water should be prepared so that the Columbia mud turtle can get up and drink water at any time. The hibernation environment should be kept away from exhaust gas, and ensure that it will not be attacked by animals such as mice, and of course be as quiet as possible.
