Do Phyllostachys tortoises hibernate?

2022-05-07 / 458 Read

Hibernating, but not recommended. The Phyllostachys fischeri is a relatively adaptable tortoise species, but it is more sensitive to changes in temperature. Under daily feeding conditions, it can be fed with pork, fish, shrimp, etc. At the same time, it can be fed with various aquatic plants such as duckweed, water lettuce, dandelion, and various fruits, especially millet shrimp. Feed 3 times a week, each time the food intake is 5% of the turtle's body weight, and it can also be increased appropriately, but it cannot be suddenly increased. It should be gradual and gradually adapted to avoid indigestion.

Fischer's

The early spring of each year is the key to the survival of the Philippine's turtle. At this time, the tortoise is in a state of semi-hibernation, and the temperature changes greatly between day and night. When the general temperature is 15°C, artificial heating should be adopted to keep it above 22°C for feeding. (The ambient temperature cannot be lowered after feeding). When the temperature is 17°C, although there is a desire to eat, it cannot be fed, in order to prevent the disease from being unable to digest normally after eating.
