The ring-tailed crane feeds primarily on attached algae, diatoms, or organic debris, and sometimes ingests some sand to help grind up the algae in its stomach. Inhabits outside lagoons, near intertidal reefs, and sea-facing coral reefs in waters between 1 and 12 meters deep.

Ringtails are a kind of fish distributed in the coral reef waters of the Indo-Pacific. The body of the ring-tailed fish is oval and laterally flat. The head is small, the outline of the head and back is obviously protruding, the more obvious the ring tail is. The mouth is small, end position, with a row of flat teeth in the upper and lower jaws, the teeth are fixed and immovable, and the tooth margins are notched.
