2. Morphological characteristics

1. Body size: The body length of the brown spider monkey is 39.3-58.3 cm; tail length 71-85.5 cm; weight 8.8-8.9 kg.

2. Features: The brown spider monkey has a curly tail, which not only balances the body, but also grabs and drags food and suspends the body. In addition to the general blood vessels in the tail, there is a middle vein directly connected to the arterial canal. In hot weather, the tail acts as a radiator, much like a dog uses its tongue to dissipate heat. When the weather turns cooler, arterial blood can return directly to the body without passing through the small blood vessels. The brown spider monkey uses its tail to regulate its body temperature.

1. Habitat: The brown spider monkey is an arboreal monkey, which mainly inhabits in tropical rain forests.

2. Diet: Brown spider monkeys are omnivores and like to eat fruits and leaves, but also eat nuts, seeds, insects and eggs.

3. Reproduction: The estrus period of each brown spider monkey is only 26 days on average each year, and males need about 3 days of pursuit to mate with females. Brown spider monkeys reach sexual maturity at 51 months, with one offspring per litter. The baby monkeys are weaned at 20 months, during which the female monkeys will not mate again. Its average lifespan is 24 years.
