Yorkshire

History

The terrier is named after it was produced in Yorkshire, northeastern England, so it is also known as Yorkshire Terrier, Joseph, and Joseph orangutan. The Yorkshire Terrier is petite, second only to small dogs in size, and its coat is silky and silky, like a girl's hair, pouring down from the head, neck and trunk, and it is dazzling. The Yorkshire Terrier's head is often decorated with ribbons and has the terrier's mischievous character. It has the charm of "a high-class lady's boudoir". As early as the Victorian era, it was a fashionable pet, loved by men, women and children, and its status in the dog world was very solid. It is also one of the most popular varieties in the world.

The dog is named after the Yorkshire region of England and has a history of more than 100 years. It has been improved several times at one time, and it is highly valued by workers and farmers as a rat-catching dog in the local area. The early breeds were much larger than today's size. It is said that the British northern workers who successfully improved the Yorkshire terrier did not leave any breeding records because they were reluctant to leak the secret of breeding success to those who wanted to make money. In fact, when some Scots went south to the Yorkshire wool mill to find work, they brought various terriers such as Skye Terriers with them. Later, these terriers were crossbred with local terrier-like native dogs to form Yorkshire Terriers. In addition, the dog also contains the blood of the black and brown terrier, the short-legged longhaired terrier.

Personality

An attractive toy breed. Charming and intelligent, he is a small but brave, loyal and affectionate dog. Lively, impulsive, brave, but stubborn. Friendly, stubborn, active, agile and brisk, warm and loyal to the owner, but withdrawn from strangers.

He is easy to get along with members of the family, including other dogs. It's clingy, though, so you need to avoid getting jealous when introducing other new animals. Although he is only a small man, once a fight begins, he is not afraid to back down. Because it is too small, when dealing with children, it is necessary to prevent children from falling and hurting it. Like jumping from heights, you have to be careful. Keep an eye on your heels at all times, especially when closing and opening doors, to make sure it has followed. Likes to play with children and prefers to sleep on the owner's lap.

Having the habit of catching mice, the coat is not easy to comb, suitable for apartment living, and it is a good play dog. No need to walk outside, just exercise for short distances; regularly clean teeth, eyes and external auditory canal; brushing and dry cleaning are necessary daily, just keep the hair on the ground. The hair on the head should be tied up; avoid eating hard food or chewing hard objects, because it is easy to lose teeth.

The dog still retains the terrier nature, and likes to walk and run in his yard. If there is enough room for it to move its muscles and bones, even if it is a small apartment, just put some toys to it, it can also make it active and happy. Considering itself to be a large dog, it is very firm in the protection of its own territory. Hearing is sensitive, as long as there is a little strange sound, it will immediately warn the owner. If neighbors don't protest his barking, he'll be an ideal dog. It is dominant and will attack other dogs without hesitation, even if it is a dog larger than itself, it will not show timidity. Eating extravagantly and not getting along very well with active children. It takes a lot of training to control it. Can be an excellent watchdog and family dog.
