History:

Centuries, about the origin of or It has been difficult to conclude, but it is confirmed that its ancestors were hunting dogs and companion dogs of the Maier nomadic tribe who migrated to Central Europe in groups more than 1,000 years ago and settled in what is now Hungary. Original 10th-century stone etchings show a Maier hunter with a falcon and a Vizsla-like dog. As far back as the 14th century, an early Hungarian manuscript contains a passage about a falcon, which depicts a picture very much like a Vizsla. Apparently because the Vizsla was loved by nobles and generals, it was accidentally and necessarily purified at that time.

Hungary is almost entirely agro-pastoral country, with a large amount of cereals grown; the growing season is long, with hot summers and relatively mild winters due to rain. Wheat, corn, rye, and barley attracted grouse and others, and the Hungarian hares also proliferated. Therefore, a hunting dog adapted to the local climatic conditions and capable of hunting effectively developed naturally. What a hunter needs is agility, carefulness in the completely uncovered open space without being detected by the prey, an extremely sensitive sense of smell, a hunting dog with high hunting skills, in short, a combination of the excellent characteristics of a pointer and a retriever.

World Wars greatly interfered with the development of the Vizsla. At the end of the First World War, the Vizsla was almost extinct, and it survived thanks to the protection of a few loyal fans. The years between the two world wars were difficult, but Vizsla lovers did their best to protect it from extinction. Hungarians who escaped before the Soviet occupation of Hungary in 1945 brought it into Australia, Italy and Germany. As a result, some were introduced into the Czech Republic, Turkey and the southern part of the former Soviet Union.

The Vizsla was introduced to the United States in the 1950s and was registered in the United States in 1960. As a hunting dog, the Vizsla has plenty of energy and long-lasting tolerance, while at the same time being a docile, friendly companion dog.

Origin:

Hungary.

Personality:

A natural hunter with a good sense of smell and above-average training. Lively, gentle and well-behaved, clearly showing affection and sensitivity, but also very brave with a protective instinct. Shyness, timidity, or neuroticism are all faults.

FCI Standard:

【General Appearance】

Elegant demeanor, short-haired, with an attractive solid golden rust coat. It is powerful in the wild and a gentle and affectionate companion at home. Special emphasis is placed on the wild-condition coat and strong, muscular muscles. The qualities of a dual-purpose dog are welcome and not objectionable.

【Head】

Thin and muscular. The cranial groove between the ears is moderately wide, and the forehead has a midline down. The fore-nasal step between the skull and face is moderate and not deep. Viewed from the side, the face or snout is equal to or slightly shorter than the cranial, and the snout gradually narrows from the forehead to the tip of the nose. The kiss is square and deep, and should not turn up to form a "dish lid", nor turn down. The tentacles are functional; tentacle removal is permitted but unwelcome. Nostrils slightly open. Nose brown, other colors are a disadvantage, and a complete black would be disqualifying. The ears are thin, silky, rounded at the tips, set low and set close to the cheeks. Jaws strong, teeth white and well developed, scissors bite. Eyes are medium in size and deep set, with surrounding tissue covering the whites of the eyes. The eye color should match the fur. A yellow or other wink is a disadvantage. Protuberance is a disadvantage. The lower eyelid is turned neither in nor out, as seeds and dust can irritate the eyeball when the eyelid is turned in and out. The lips completely cover the jaws, neither sagging nor drooping.

【Neck and trunk】

Neck strong, smooth and muscular, moderately long, arched without wattles, gradually thickening to match moderately set shoulders catch. This is specifically for balance with the moderately angled hindquarters. The trunk is strong and well-proportioned. Short back. The shoulders are high and the topline is slightly rounded from the waist to the base of the tail. The chest is moderately broad and reaches to the elbows. The ribs are expanded, and the lower abdominal line is slightly drawn up below the waist. The base of the tail is just below the level of the rump, and the base of the tail is thick and 1/3 off. Ideally, it should reach the back of the knee joint, and the tail position should be close to horizontal. Constant tailing is a disadvantage.

【Forequarters】

Shoulder blades are moderately long and wide, moderately set back, and the tops of the shoulder blades are quite close. The front legs are straight and muscular. Elbow snug. Feet are round and compact, with toes close together. The feet are short and brown. The pads are thick and hard. If dewclaws are to be removed. Rabbit feet are a disadvantage.

【Hindquarters】

The thighs are well developed, the knees and hocks are moderately angled, commensurate with the moderately set back of the shoulders and feet. The rear view must be straight. Too large or too small hock angle is a disadvantage. The hocks are near the ground and parallel to each other. 【Coat】

Short, smooth, dense and lodging, without wool-like undercoat. Extra long coat will be disqualified.

【Coat Color】

Different shades of pure golden rust. Pure dark auburn and pale yellow are disadvantages. Small white spots on the chest are allowed, the smaller the better. White hairs on the toes are allowed. Pure white whites on any part of the toes other than the chest of the adult will be disqualified. Front view, when standing naturally, the white spots on the chest must be limited to the area from the top of the sternum to the ends of the elbows, and the whites beyond the shoulders or neck are disqualified. Whiteness due to old age is not a disadvantage. Any noticeable black areas in the coat are a serious disadvantage.

【Gait】

The stride is light, graceful and smooth. A single-track chain when running fast.

【Size】

The ideal height for male dogs is 55.9-61.0 cm; for female dogs, it is 53.3-58.4 cm, and the upper and lower range does not exceed 3.8 cm, otherwise it will be regarded as a defect.
