The plateau pika (scientific name: Ochotona curzoniae) is a small non-hibernating herbivorous mammal, also known as the black-lipped pika, belonging to the family Lagomorpha. The plateau pika has a round body, no tail, and a gray-brown body color. Plateau pika is a species endemic to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with a large number, mostly inhabiting the slopes and river valleys with loose soil in the plateau area. Because it is considered to be the culprit of grassland degradation, it has been regarded as the target of killing.
