Mantis (scientific name: Mantodea), also known as knife beetle, is an invertebrate, a carnivorous insect. In ancient Greece, people regarded the praying mantis as a prophet, and it was also called a prayer bug because the mantis raised its forearm like a praying girl.
Except for the polar regions, it is widely distributed all over the world, especially in the tropics. There are about 2000 known species in the world. About 147 species are known in China. Among them, Chinese big knife mantis, narrow-winged big knife mantis, broad ax mantis, brown quiet mantis, thin-winged mantis, green quiet mantis, etc., mantis is an important natural enemy of Chinese agricultural, forest, fruit tree and ornamental plant pests.
