Fungal skin disease

Skin fungus is mainly transmitted through contact, which can be transmitted through the cat's sleeping ground pollutants and contaminated combs, brushes, bedding and other media. The disease can occur all year round, and the incidence is generally high in hot and humid seasons. Cats cured of mycosis are resistant to reinfection with the same fungus, but the resistance disappears after a few months to a year. The fungus is a zoonotic skin disease that is more susceptible to infection in children and women.

Symptoms

After the cat's skin is infected with fungus, it mostly occurs in the head, ears, limbs, toes, and trunk. The skin of the affected area is depilated, a ring-shaped scaly patch appears, and damaged hair roots remain, and sometimes the affected area is completely depilated. In severe cases, erythema or crusts may form. When hair begins to grow in the middle of the ringworm spot, the hair loss around it continues. The affected part is itchy, and when individual cats scratch the secondary bacterial infection, the exudation is severe, and the affected part of the skin can be seen to be red, swollen and eroded, and in severe cases, pus can be seen. The development of dermatophytosis generally spreads from the middle to the surrounding circles. If not treated in time, it will turn into a chronic disease with a long course.

After the above symptoms appear, take the cat to the veterinary hospital for examination.

Long-haired cats are recommended to shave the whole body, while short-haired cats should The hair within six centimeters of the lesion should be shaved. When shaving, special care should be taken not to shave the skin to avoid the spread of the lesion.

For external use, it is recommended to use ringworm net and ringworm net. If it is yeast, ketoconazole should be selected.
