As the bitch approaches 60 days of pregnancy, the signs of labor will gradually appear, and the bitch's appetite will gradually appear in the days before delivery. The nipple can express a small amount of milk, and the owner should prepare everything needed to help the dog deliver the baby in advance, so as to prepare for the arrival of the new life.

The production process of a dog is the physiological process of expelling the mature fetus, placenta, fetal membranes and amniotic fluid from the mother's body by relying on its own strength.

1. The uterine opening period

The uterus begins to contract, the dog is restless, the breathing is short, the mucus from the genitals will increase, and the uterus will start to contract. Start to contract, causing labor pains.

As the pain continues, the abdomen swells, the fetus is sent to the birth canal, and the anus and vulva continue to bulge.

A part of the fetus whose head is covered by a transparent membrane can be seen from the vulva. This membrane is called the semi-membrane.

2. During the delivery period of the fetus

The vagina will exude mucus due to natural water breaking, which can lubricate the birth canal and help the delivery of the fetus. It will be born with the fetal membranes due to intense labor.

Immediately break the fetal membrane on the fetal head, wipe the moisture in the nose and mouth of the fetus with emery cloth, so that it can breathe, and tie the umbilical cord with a string one centimeter away from the fetal belly, And cut it with scissors to leave the mother.

After confirming that the fetus is breathing, put the fetus into the bath water (fill the basin with hot water at 39 degrees Celsius), wash off the dirt sticking to the surface of the body, and then use Wrap in a towel to dry, blow dry with a hair dryer, and move to the birthing box.

There is usually more than one puppy per litter, and a puppy will be born every 15 to 40 minutes, and the placenta will also be excreted.

Note:

The mother dog's abdomen is strongly contracted, painful, and breathing will be like panting The same, showing uneasiness and pain. At this time, the owner should pay attention to the fact that if such a strong labor pain lasts for more than 2 hours, it may be a dystocia and should be sent to the veterinary hospital as soon as possible.

Seek immediate medical attention if labor is more than an hour apart. You can ask a veterinarian to inject a stimulant, or confirm the position of the puppy through B-ultrasound, and consider whether to perform a caesarean section.

After the whole process of delivery, it is still necessary to be careful not to let the bitch eat the placenta to avoid diarrhea.

After the puppy is born, watch for breathing. Do not take the puppy away from the mother dog at this time. You can gently rub the puppy's face on the mother dog's stomach to encourage the puppy to suck breast milk.
