How to care for dog pads

Why are the paws of dogs cracked?

The pads on the soles of the paws of dogs are tender and pink when they are born, and they grow with age. The pads can also slowly become rough and even chapped. After the paw is split, the dog still keeps walking and licking, and the paw does not get a quiet environment for growth and healing. Therefore, the paw will take longer to heal than the skin of other parts of the body.

The role of the meat pad:

Heat exchanger: The dog's paw has a magical vascular system, which is equivalent to a counter-flow heat exchanger , not only to maintain body temperature but also to keep feet warm.

Anti-slip pad: The dog's meat pad is covered with sweat glands, which can play a non-slip effect when sweating a lot when stressed.

Silencers: Soft pads reduce the sound of footsteps while hunting and allow for stealth.

Shock absorber: The meat pad is a collection of fat and a large number of elastic fibers. When the dog takes off and falls, it relies on the thick meat pad to act as a shock absorber.

Reasons for cracked paws in dogs:

1. Cuts or scrapes: If this happens, you'll need a bandage to help stop the bleeding, and a pet hospital to clean the wound to prevent infection.

2. Lick and bite the soles of your own feet: The chemicals that are often sprayed in the garden or on the floor will cause discomfort to the dog's skin and cause the dog to lick and bite itself.

3. Hyperkeratosis: The keratin is a hard tissue on the skin, which can easily lead to dryness and cracking when it grows too fast.

4. Bacterial infection: Malassezia or fungal infection of the palm can lead to dehiscence.

5. Nutritional deficiency: Unbalanced diet, lack of certain minerals and vitamins will cause cracking of the soles of the feet.

How to take care of the foot pads:

1. If you can find a pair of comfortable shoes for your dog, that is the best. Waterproof material, wear-resistant soles and double-safety buckles can well protect the dog's feet, allowing dogs to run recklessly in the cold winter.

2. According to statistics, 80% of foot problems are caused by improper cleaning, which cannot be completely cleaned with water alone, and ordinary cleaning products are not easy to rinse. Pet Foot Cleansing Foam does not need to be washed, especially suitable for daily cleaning and care, sterilizing and anti-inflammatory while moisturizing the feet to prevent drying and cracking.

Precautions for foot pad care:

Control the indoor temperature and humidity, and avoid prolonged cold, dry air to damage the dog's skin.

When walking your dog after snow in winter, avoid letting your dog walk on roads, sidewalks and other places with a lot of snowmelting agent, let alone lick things on the road, to prevent dogs from accidentally eating snowmelting agent poisoning

Trim the bottoms of your feet regularly. Avoid moisture and bacteria, which can cause inflammation between your dog's toes.
