Bronchopneumonia can be divided into acute and chronic, and its clinical symptoms range from mild to severe and life-threatening to varying degrees.

【Basic information】

Family: Respiratory system disease Causes]

Bronchopneumonia is a disease caused by the secondary invasion of primary pathogenic bacteria or various infectious bacteria, or accompanied by inhalation of respiratory, toxic or irritating substances. Refers to inflammation caused by infection of the bronchi and lung parenchyma. Bronchoconstriction and alveolar edema lead to the loss of lung exchange capacity in dogs, and the lack of blood oxygen causes difficulty in breathing and the body needs a large amount of oxygen supply.

【Main Symptoms】

Symptoms of sick dogs are mild wet cough, often accompanied by mucopurulent nasal discharge, intolerance to exercise, shortness of breath, breathing Difficult, sometimes visible mucosal cyanosis. Systemic symptoms are also often present: lethargy, anorexia, weight loss, or dehydration.

【Diagnostic Criteria】

X-ray examination showed that the lesions were dense areas, like villi; due to alveolar exudation, gas bronchography; mild infection lesions, there was exudation around the bronchi material, bronchial lymphadenopathy.

【Treatment method】

Ensure that the trachea is unobstructed. Oxygen must be given when there is a severe respiratory disease.

General care should ensure that the environment is warm and humid to avoid discomfort in sick animals, regularly clean up nasal fluid and secretions, and ensure that the sick dog has sufficient water supply. Infusion is an important way to ensure sufficient water. The premise of supply is to maintain mucosal function and timely removal of secretions. But also avoid excess water.

At the beginning of the disease should be treated with high doses of antibiotics. Ampicillin, high-potency sulfonamides, cephalosporins, and gentamicin can be used before bacterial culture and drug susceptibility test results are available.
