Black-lined hamsters are nocturnal rodents, except for the autumn grain storage season, During the day, they generally do not do cave activities. The activity is frequent before dawn and after dusk, and the most frequent activities are generally from 19 to 21. In summer and autumn, before the overcast and rainy seasons, black-lined hamsters go out of their burrows to forage in advance, and the capture rate is higher than normal. Black-lined hamsters use cheek pouches to carry food into the hole, and their activity distance is generally not more than 200 meters. The nest area is mostly within 22.5 acres, and the maximum is not more than 75 acres. The activity range of female mice is smaller than that of male mice. Black-lined hamsters also store a small amount of wheat grains in summer, and store grains in multiple storage rooms in autumn.

Black-lined hamsters do not hibernate. Sexual maturity generally occurs at 8 weeks of age, and the most suitable age for reproduction is 12 weeks of age. The estrus cycle is 3 to 7 days (average 4.5 days). The estrus cycle can be divided into pre-estrus, estrus, post-estrus and interestrus. The pre-estrus period lasts for about half a day, and the vulva mucosa is pink or red, moist and loose, and easy to pull out. During this period, the male and female mice are willing to approach, and the female mice often turn around the male mice. During the estrus period, the vulva is further congested, which is dark red, and the clitoris is dark red or purple. During this period, the female mice often move their tails, and they are easy to mate. The estrus period of female mice generally occurs at dusk. If the light is artificially controlled, estrus can be achieved 2 to 3 hours after it becomes dark. In the late estrus stage, the congestion and swelling of the vulva and clitoris of the female rat disappeared quickly, the female rat no longer raised its tail, and the female and male often had bites. During the interval, the vaginal opening is slightly opened or closed, the vulva becomes dry and pale, and the female rat becomes very aggressive during this period. Mating from dusk to 10 p.m. has a high pregnancy rate.
