1. The shape of water onion

Very smooth, with three to four leaf sheaths at the root, 38 cm in length, tubular and membranous. The leaves are linear, ranging from 1.5 cm to 11 cm in length. There is a bract, an extension of the culm, erect, subulate, usually shorter than the inflorescence. Inflorescences solitary or regenerated, with four thirteen radiating branches. The radiating branches are five centimeters in length, raised on one side and concave on the other, with serrated edges. Spikelets solitary or in clusters of two or three on top of radiating branches, ovate or oblong, apex very acute or obtuse, 5 to 10 mm in length and 2 to 3.5 mm in width .

2. Habits of Scallions

Scallions are produced in Northeast China, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Xinjiang, Hebei, Jiangsu, Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan; also distributed In Korea, Japan, Australia, North and South America. Scallions usually grow in lakes, water, shallow ponds, swamps, or wetland grasses. The optimal growth temperature is 15 to 30 °C, and the growth is stopped below 10 °C. It is resistant to low temperature and can overwinter in the open field in most parts of the north. It likes a drier air environment, and the rainy days are too long, which is easy to be infected by bacteria. Afraid of rain, keep the leaves dry at night.

3. Cultivation of water onions

The cultivation of water onions can be propagated by sowing, usually indoor sowing in March and April, and the cultivation soil is leveled on the pot Compact, sprinkle seeds on it, sieve a layer of fine soil to cover the seeds, and submerge the pot in shallow water, so that the pot soil is always moist.
