Chinese name: Zhu Lian
English name: BluseGarden
Family: Sedumaceae
Genus: Kalanchoe
1. Morphological characteristics of Zhulian
The daily leaf color of Zhulian is green, and the leaves are thick and sun-resistant. It is a kind of succulent that is relatively easy to raise. The thick leaves of Zhulian have a certain effect of purifying the air. They are very ordinary and inconspicuous. After sufficient sunshine and large temperature difference, the whole plant will turn red and be as beautiful as a vermillion bird. The root system is very strong and can be grown directly into the ground or in deep pots. The flowering period is in spring
2. Cultivation of Zhulian
Zhulian is planted in early spring or replaced in pots. For potted plants, a mixture of leaf mulch (or mixed charcoal soil), garden soil and coarse sand is used as potting soil, and an appropriate amount of decomposed organic cake fertilizer is added as base fertilizer. Zhulian is a long-day plant, and properly extending the light is conducive to growth. During the growing season, it should be placed in a place with sufficient sunlight and receive as much sunlight as possible. However, when it is hot in summer, it should be shaded or placed in a shady place under the tree, avoid direct sunlight, and pay attention to ventilation, and the plants will not grow well in an over-humid and overheated environment. The suitable growth temperature is 20-30℃. In winter, it should be placed in a sunny place indoors, and the room temperature should be kept around 10°C.
3. The cutting method of Zhulian
The leaves of Zhulian will turn red in a sunny environment, which is very beautiful, but it is not necessary to want Zhulian to have this red color. So simple. The difficulty of artificial cultivation of Zhulian is actually not high. The propagation is mainly based on cuttings, and the survival rate is relatively high. Select the side branches or top branches of healthy and disease-free plants, cut them off quickly with a knife, and leave as many leaves as possible to facilitate photosynthesis. Allow the wound to dry and fully heal before cutting. Or smear bactericidal powder on the wound, or hang it in a cool place for 3-5 days, the time is longer than short, and rushing cuttings after cutting will only increase the probability of branch infection and rot.
