1. Morphology of Judith bottle grass
The leaves of Judith bottle grass can grow to about fifty centimeters. It is a perennial herb with many rhizomes, and the rhizomes are creeping. The leaves grow from the root, forming rosettes, leaf bottles, and trumpets or tubes. There is an insect trap inside the bottle, the opening of the cyst wall is very smooth and there are nectaries inside, which can secrete sweet honey juice to lure insects into it. The flowers of bottle grass are bisexual flowers. The inflorescences are drawn from the base of the leaves and are loose racemes composed of several large flowers. Stamens, yellow-green or dark red flowers, 5 sepals, located below the petals. The fruit is a capsule containing many tiny seeds, which automatically crack and pop out when ripe.
2. Habits of Judith bottle grass
Judith bottle grass is born in South America and grows in saline-alkali barren wasteland areas, lowland swamps, and wet grasslands. The bottle grass begins to grow at the end of the flowering period until late autumn. In the late autumn, the bottle begins to wither, and the plant grows sword-shaped leaves that do not have the function of nourishing insects. Due to the reduction of insects in winter and the colder weather, the metabolism and other functions of plants are also reduced. At this time, it is not cost-effective to spend energy on insect-growing leaves, and sword-shaped leaves are a more economical choice.
3. Cultivation of Judith bottle plant
Judith bottle plant is a wet carnivorous plant that can grow in swamps for many years in the wild, so it needs a very humid environment, its growth will flourish. Under artificial cultivation conditions, if a waist water jacket pot is used for planting, water can be poured directly into the jacket pot or until the jacket pot is full of water. To successfully plant bottle grass, it is very important to know the required temperature. Generally, the required temperature in summer should be 21-35C, and 1.7-713C in winter is more suitable. Notably, all bottle plants are light frost tolerant. Therefore, artificial cultivation does not need to be moved into the greenhouse in winter, except when it is extremely cold.
