Train dogs not to lick and kiss people

2021-01-31 / 760 Read

Dogs like to lick and kiss people, which is a natural expression of the dog's enthusiasm for people. It expresses the dog's tameness, welcome and love for people. But a dog is indiscriminate, licking and kissing when it sees people, which can easily arouse the disgust of friends, especially female friends, who are often overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the dog. Therefore, it is necessary to properly correct this behavior of the dog.

To stop your dog from licking and kissing people at will, you must start from an early age, and try not to let your dog lick and kiss too much at the puppy stage. If the puppy licks your face and hands, you should turn your face and hands away from the dog and scold him softly. But don't punish it harshly, because licking is a sign of puppy compliance, and punishing or scolding too harshly can overwhelm the dog and apologize with more licks.

Also, when the dog jumps into your arms enthusiastically and licks you wildly, you should push the dog away first, let the dog calm down, and then just touch it. If the dog insists on continuing to lick and kiss, you can pull the collar and pull it apart. When the dog stops licking, you can pat the dog's body and stroke it. You can also use a compliment to encourage the puppy. Give it a thumbs up by throwing a small toy to play with!

Also, when the dog keeps licking and kissing, you can also use the usual training commands, such as telling the dog to sit! do not move! lie! Wait. If the dog obeys the command, it will be rewarded immediately and appropriately, so that the dog can form a conditioned reflex that rewards when not licking and kissing the owner.
