Red nose scissors are native to Brazil, South America.
Characteristics
The body shape is similar to other species of the same genus. The head is red and the snout is bright red, so it is also called red-nosed fish. The whole body is silvery white, almost transparent, and the tail fin has black and white stripes similar to the scissor fish, hence the name. The difference between the red-nosed scissorfish and the common red-nosed fish is that the red-nosed scissors each has 3 black and white stripes, while the red-nosed scissorfish has 5 black stripes and 4 white stripes. Body length 5O ~ 60 mm. Feeding characteristics
Strong body, easy to raise. It has a mild temperament and can be mixed with small fish of the same size and character. The feeding water should be weakly acidic soft water (pH of 5.4 to 6.8), and the suitable water temperature is 22 to 26 °C. The color of the muzzle varies with its health and water quality. When the water quality and water temperature are not suitable, or the health is not good, the bright red will turn into pink and not bright. Likes to eat small insects on the water.
Like to live in groups, the number of red-nosed scissors in a single aquarium should not be less than 3, otherwise the red-nosed scissors will curl up in the corner to bear the loneliness and pressure alone. And the grass tank for breeding red-nosed scissors can have a certain area to hide. The pH value of the aquaculture water should not change too much, which will directly affect the life of the red nose scissors.
Propagation characteristics
Propagation is extremely difficult and requires a large aquarium full of aquatic plants, filled with extremely soft water. Put a couple of pairs of red-nose scissors in the aquarium, and after acclimatizing them, they will lay eggs. A small number of eggs hatch after 30 hours. The method is similar to that of other species of the salmon family, but it is extremely difficult to make them spawn. If it is successful occasionally, it can lay 100 to 2 eggs each time, and the hatching situation is not good.
