A dam with outstanding genetics is rare and precious

The production function of a sire is infinite, it can match many mother dogs and give birth to many, many puppies. However, the number of offspring a female dog can produce is limited. Because of this, breeding mothers with outstanding genetics are rare and precious.

A highly productive breeding mother, although her qualities may not necessarily be passed on to her offspring, her puppies will more or less have certain characteristics, even if they use external mating methods. Or use the systematic mating method, with famous males or lesser-known male dogs, you can observe that the puppies have some commonalities from the mother.

But before the female dog has given birth, it is impossible to determine whether the female dog's production capacity is strong or weak. The only basis for this is to trace whether its ancestors were dogs with high production capacity from its blood relatives.

Some female dogs are extremely weak in heredity. When such female dogs are mated with high-quality and dominant male dogs, the puppies born will look like their fathers.

The breeder should be able to pass on the excellent characteristics to the next generation

The primary condition for selecting a breeder is: the breeder's appearance must be strong, and it must be in line with the dog. kind of standard.

A common mistake made by breeders is to choose a male with an overgrown part to mate with a bitch whose part is not good, hoping to take advantage of the male dog or make up for it or even out. For example, use an oversized male dog to match a standard-sized female dog, hoping that the puppies will be guaranteed to be within the standard in the future. Unfortunately, genetics is not like that. Attempting to make up for the lack with extreme excess will only complicate and disrupt your breeding program.

A male should gather the excellent inheritance of its paternal and maternal lines, and be able to pass on these excellent characteristics to the next generation. It means that the father, grandfather, and great-grandfather of the male breeder have produced at least ten champions or more in each generation. If your current breeder is still a young dog, he may not have produced ten champion dogs yet, but at least you should know from the dog magazine or the arena if his puppies are a target. This kind of male with continuous production ability should have a decisive dominant heritability for its advantages. Be sure that the offspring of your broodstock will inherit the characteristics of the bloodline. If the champion dog is not backed by a strong background, it is just a lucky anomaly.

If you own a male, you must be sure that the qualities of this male can be passed on to his offspring. If it has a beautiful head, and its father has a beautiful head, but its mother does not, then you may be disappointed that you hope that the beautiful head is the dominant inheritance. It may be a weak heredity, and the same is true for other parts of its body such as hair volume, coat color, bones, etc.

It is best to trace the genetic characteristics of its parents. Unless your breeder is genetically very good, and he can be called the best of the breed, he doesn't qualify as a breeder.

Don't think that the breeder should be very big or small. Too big or too small is a disqualification. Every dog breed has its own standard, and the breeder must be within the standard. Smart breeders all agree that over- or under-spec dogs are swarms of beasts. If you have a male dog with breeding potential, it is recommended that you observe it and train it.

Pre-mating

Take your female dog to the veterinarian three months before heat. Inspection items include: developmental situation, internal and external parasites, anemia Prussian disease (a kind of BRUCELLOSIS STD); skin diseases, such as eczema and so on. Also make sure that all vaccinations are within their expiry date. You still have time to treat the bitch if it turns out to be sick. Special attention should be paid to infectious diseases other than parasites and skin diseases, because these diseases can be transmitted to the puppies who are born.

If your bitch is overweight, it will not be easy to conceive or give birth. However, if the bitch is too thin, it will not be able to supply enough milk, making the puppies malnourished. It is necessary to lose weight or increase nutrition for the bitch according to the actual situation.

Making a breeding plan is only the first step, and then there are a series of problems to be faced. How to ensure the lasting continuation of the male dog's sperm quality? How to determine the ovulation time of the female dog? What should I do if the breeding fails? In short, doing reproduction is an endless heart.
