When does a bitch start heat?

Bitches develop and mature earlier than male dogs. Many bitches start to show signs of estrus from 6 months of age. After 8-10 months of age, bitches are basically sexually mature.

1. Bitches come into heat twice a year, mostly in spring (February to April) and autumn (September to November). The best breeding for bitches should not be earlier than 1.5 years of age;

2. Generally speaking, the process of bitches starting from the previous estrus to the next estrus is called the sexual cycle. 126～240 days;

3. The estrus period of bitches usually lasts for 14～21 days. Generally, bitches ovulate on the 3rd or 4th day after estrus, and the gestation period is about 60 days (58～63 days). );

Tips:

Generally speaking, medium and large dogs mature later, such as Golden Retriever, Samoyed etc.; and small dogs mature earlier, such as Pomeranian, Poodle > etc.
