What if the bitch is in a reverse position?

When the bitch is giving birth, if Unsettled in the bed, restless, sometimes in the delivery bed with force; sometimes outside the delivery bed with force. Or keep running around to close the abdomen and give birth hard, but still no puppy comes out. This kind of behavior of the bitch is very likely to have a reversed fetus.

In the event of a reverse position, it is best for the dog owner to send the dog to the pet hospital as soon as possible. If it's too late, you can operate carefully according to the following methods:

1. Use warm salt water or alcohol to disinfect and clean the bitch's vulva first. Remember: the midwife's own hands must be sanitized.

2. One person controls the bitch, and the midwife holds the bitch's abdomen with one hand (to prevent the fetus from retreating). Insert the index finger of one hand into the birth canal of the bitch to check whether the fetal position is correct (normally, the mouth is facing the pelvis). If the fetus curls its head, touches the fetus's skull, then straightens the fetus' mouth with the index finger, and pushes the hand holding the abdomen firmly, repeating several times, it may be successful.

3. If your index finger touches the forelimb of the fetus, push the forelimb back to the birth canal, and then correct the fetal position (mouth to the pelvis) and use the above method.

4. If your index finger touches the tail or a hind limb of the fetus, hold the abdomen of the bitch with one hand (to prevent the fetus from retreating). Use your index finger to hook out the fetus's hind limbs and grab the fetus's legs with gauze or a small towel. Gently pull the baby's legs with one hand, and push the baby's buttocks with the other hand.

5. Push and pull, repeat this several times, the fetus is likely to come out safely. (When the head of the fetus is stuck by the pelvis, reach out to the bitch's abdomen between the hind limbs and touch the head of the fetus and gently push it outwards).

6. During the operation, be sure to keep calm, don't panic, and don't use too much force. Note: Do not repeatedly insert the index finger into the vulva of the bitch, it is easy to hurt the vulva. After delivery, scrub the inside and outside of the vulva with gentamicin injection (one to two times a day). Inject antibiotics or intravenous antibiotics for three consecutive days.
