Did you know? PuppyPreparation for neutering
If you decide to neuter your dog after careful consideration, what should you do to prepare?
1. The dog should be healthy before surgery. Before surgery on your dog, make sure your dog is healthy. It is best to have been vaccinated, and there should be no vomiting, diarrhea, fever, cough, loss of appetite, depression, etc.; there should be no chronic diseases such as liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, encephalopathy, and heartworm. If you really want surgery, you must tell the doctor in advance so that the doctor can weigh the pros and cons.
2. Make sure the bitch is in estrus. If the female dog is about to be in estrus or is in the state of estrus bleeding, the operation should not be performed, and the operation must be performed two months after the vulva bleeding stops. Because the uterus of the female dog in estrus will become thick and brittle, blood vessels will proliferate, increasing the risk of surgery. Sterilization itself is a physiological elective surgery, so the risk of surgery should be minimized. The operation of male dogs is relatively simple, and the requirements for this are not high, and the operation can be performed at any time.
3. Fasting for 8-12 hours and drinking for 4-6 hours before surgery to avoid increased risk of vomiting induced by surgical anesthesia.
4. In case of any condition after the operation, the dog can be observed in the hospital for 1 to 2 days after the operation, and the hospital supplies (food basin, water basin, food, bedding, etc.) should be prepared. In addition, handling tools should also be prepared, such as sturdy carton boxes, wooden boxes, wooden boards and corresponding bedding, etc. Because the dog cannot move on its own after waking up from general anesthesia, it needs to be transported manually. At this time, it is not recommended to hold it by hand, because it may touch The incision can cause animal pain, and at the same time, it can also avoid accidental injury to the owner because the dog's consciousness is not fully awake after anesthesia.
5. It is best to give the dog a bath 2 to 3 days before the operation to keep it clean to reduce infection.
