In Huangmei Tian, rain is naturally the protagonist on the weather stage. This kind of weather is more comfortable and cool in the morning and evening; as the temperature rises during the day, plus the air humidity is high, the air pressure is low, and the sultry feeling will be obvious. In addition, food is prone to spoilage during the rainy season. You should pay special attention to the dietary hygiene of dogs, and beware of diseases from entering the mouth. The following are the common diseases of Huangmeitian dogs summarized by the expert consultants of pets. We hope to draw your attention:

1. Dogs are prone to heatstroke

1. Dogs dissipate heat through the evaporation of tongue liquid, so if the environment becomes hot and humid, the heat dissipation effect is not good, and the body temperature rises rapidly, which is easy to cause heat stroke . And when the body temperature rises, the metabolic rate will increase, and as a result, the body temperature will rise faster, so it is excreted. Ultimately, metabolic dysfunction occurs due to insufficient blood flow to the liver and kidneys, causing cerebral hemorrhage and edema, irreparable damage, and often accompanied by seizures, tremors, coma, and even death.

2. Dogs may suffer from heat stroke if they continue to be in a high temperature environment without taking proper precautions. Coupled with external factors such as humidity, lack of air circulation, and insufficient water intake, the dog's body cannot adapt, and it is more prone to heat stroke.

3. Dogs that are prone to heat stroke include:

①Puppy: The body has a higher metabolic rate and is prone to generate more heat.

②Old dogs: The body's circulatory function declines, and the heat generated is not easily excreted from the body.

③ Overweight dogs: Too much body fat prevents the metabolism of heat.

④Excessive exercise dogs: The body will generate a lot of heat due to vigorous exercise.

Clinical symptoms of heat stroke

1. High fever over 41.5 degrees.

2. Because the body surface dissipates heat quickly, blood vessels dilate rapidly, resulting in a drop in blood pressure. At this point, blood flow through the lungs is severely deficient, and the body responds with panting and pounding.

3. Reduced urine output due to dehydration and insufficient blood flow to the kidneys.

4. Long-term panting can cause throat edema, especially dogs with short snout, such as pugs, bull dogs and Boston Terrier, etc.

5. A large amount of dehydration causes the blood circulation to decline, the water in the blood decreases, the viscosity increases, and blood spots appear on the microvessels on the body surface.

6. Epilepsy, tremors and coma occur in the body due to brain hemorrhage and edema.

Emergency treatment of heatstroke

1. Once heatstroke occurs, the dog should be removed from the high temperature place and placed in a cool place to rest or lie down. And lower the head to increase the blood supply to the brain. The dog can be directly immersed in cold water, or the abdomen and neck can be wiped with cold water, supplemented by an electric fan to accelerate heat dissipation. However, it should be noted that the water temperature should not be too low. Low water temperature will cause severe contraction of blood vessels, but will not achieve the effect of heat dissipation.

2. In the process of emergency treatment, use a rectal thermometer to measure the body temperature every 10 minutes. When the body temperature drops to 38 degrees, stop the heat dissipation first aid, so as to avoid hypothermic shock.

3. Pay attention to the dog's breathing at any time, because when the dog suffers from heat stroke, the throat is prone to edema, causing suffocation. To make breathing easier, the neck should be straightened. If the dog has a vomiting reaction, the vomit should be removed from the mouth to prevent the dog from sucking the vomit into the trachea and causing aspiration pneumonia.

4. If the dog remains in a coma, in addition to immediately sending it to the hospital for treatment, if there is suffocation and shock, cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be performed.

5. In the hot summer weather, you must pay attention to the temperature of the environment, ventilation and supplementary drinking water to help the dog dissipate heat. Allowing body heat to escape through the skin is a great way to prevent heatstroke in dogs.
