I don't know if you have had such experience. Every time you clean the rabbit cage, you will find some scattered rabbit food particles around the food bowl. Some of these rabbit foods are accidentally spilled during the eating process, and some are deliberately scraped out by the rabbits not eating. The reasons for this phenomenon may be as follows.
(1) Picky eaters. Each food smells different, so rabbits have their own preferences for certain foods. Eat more of what you like, eat less of what you don't like, and throw out what you hate.
(2) Differences in palatability. Fresh food has high water content and better palatability. Rabbits often eat up the tender leaves when they graze, leaving a pile of bare grass stalks.
(3) Food spoiled or contaminated. Rabbits are very sensitive to damp and moldy food. If the rabbit suddenly develops resistance to a certain kind of rabbit food that is often eaten, do not force it to eat it.
(4) The ingredients change suddenly. Rabbits have a very sensitive sense of smell and are very wary of unfamiliar smells, and suddenly changing the brand of rabbit food will also cause shavings.
(5) Plane for pregnant female rabbits. For the healthy growth of the baby rabbit, the expectant mother needs more nutrition, and the mother rabbit during pregnancy may choose the food she needs. If you can find out which ingredients in rabbit food the female rabbit likes to eat, you can increase it appropriately.
The use of buckled or wall-mounted food bowls can reduce rabbit planing behavior and avoid waste.
