Young rabbits are characterized by strong appetite and gluttony, but poor adaptability to the environment and easy to get sick. Especially when the digestive tract of the young rabbit is inflamed, the harmful substances in the digestive tract are easily absorbed, which can easily cause poisoning and death of the young rabbit. To improve the survival rate of young rabbits, the following measures should be taken:
When the pups are 28-42 days old and their weight reaches 750 grams, they can be weaned. Weaning too early will affect the growth and development of young rabbits. Weaning too late is not conducive to the recovery of the female rabbit. Generally speaking, the pups of the breed of meat rabbits can be weaned at 28-35 days of age, and the pups of the woolly rabbit and rex rabbit breeds can be weaned at 35-43 days of age.
2. To strengthen nutrition After weaning, young rabbits should be fed more nutritious and easy-to-digest pellets, and less water. Lots of green fodder and hard fodder. The protein content in the diet should reach 18%. The principle of feeding is a small number of times, 4-5 times a day.
3. Prevention and control of coccidiosis within 3 months of age is the easy stage of coccidiosis, which is the greatest threat to young rabbits. Therefore, anti-coccidial, anti-enteritis, and growth-promoting drugs must be added to the feed, such as dibenzine and dysentery.
