In hot summer, if raising rabbits does not take heatstroke prevention and cooling measures, the growth and development of rabbits will be affected, especially for long The effect of fur rabbits will be even greater. Therefore, in order to make the rabbits can spend the summer safely, the following management measures should be taken to prevent heatstroke.
1. Build a pergola. In summer, if the rabbit is exposed to the sun for 4 to 6 hours, it will die of heat stroke. Therefore, a pergola must be built on the open-air rabbit cage, and the doors and windows of the closed rabbit house should be opened for ventilation and cooling.
2. Cut rabbit fur. After the summer, cut the fur between the neck, back and waist of the rabbit, and cut off the fur on other parts appropriately. Long-haired rabbits should be sheared once before summer.
3. Reduce density. Group rabbits should be divided into small groups to avoid crowded rabbits and heat. When caged, the number of caged animals should be reduced.
4. Make sure to drink water. Prepare enough clean, fresh drinking water, add salt, vinegar, mint, etc. to the water. Feed carefully. In summer, rabbits eat very little during the day and should be fed in the cool time of morning and evening. More green feed should be fed, and a small amount of garlic paste, minced onion, chives, etc. should be mixed into the feed to facilitate sterilization and disease prevention. If the rabbit is fed with wet feed, the feed basin should be washed and dried every day to prevent the accumulation of mildew in the remaining feed. In addition, the bean curd residue should be fed fresh, and the amount of tofu should be fed as much as possible to prevent the leftovers from becoming moldy and deteriorating.
Wet bricks dissipate heat. In midsummer, put the bricks soaked in cold water into the rabbit cage, and rabbit lie on it to lower the body temperature.
Cool down with water spray. When the temperature of the cage exceeds 30 ℃, an appropriate amount of clean water can be sprinkled around the ground and walls to facilitate cooling. 8. Do a good job of hygiene. High temperature and high humidity in summer are the most unfavorable season for raising rabbits, and the morbidity and mortality of domestic rabbits in this season are the highest in a year. Therefore, it is extremely important to improve the hygiene of the rabbit house. Drainage ditches should be dug around the rabbit house, and there should be no dead ponds. The rabbit house should be regularly disinfected and kept clean and hygienic.
9. Take care of the bunnies. Unweaned young rabbits should be kept in spacious rabbit cages, and kept in separate cages with mother rabbits, and weaned regularly. Weaned young rabbits can be reared in separate cages after 1 to 2 weeks of adaptation.
10. Control reproduction. In summer, due to the high temperature, the feed intake of domestic rabbits is reduced and the physique is weak, which makes the semen quality of male rabbits poor, and female rabbits are prone to miscarriage after pregnancy. Even if the female rabbit gives birth, the calf will be weak and the survival rate will be reduced due to the reduction of food intake and the low lactation of the female rabbit. Therefore, under normal circumstances, breeding should be suspended.
