Some people habitually raise starlings so that they can play with others, but most people listen to them and learn to speak. Therefore, the selection of males and females is not strict, and the key is to start feeding with young birds. But some people think that myna females are better at imitating than males. According to experience, myna with a jade-white mouth and orange-yellow feet is more smarter than a myna with a gray-brown mouth and yellow-brown feet.

2. Characteristics of cages

Birds of the starling family such as myna and myna are large cage birds, and the cage should be larger. Because of its miscellaneous food habits, large appetite, and a lot of defecation, the cage should have a bright bottom with a fecal support plate under it. In addition, the starling's mouth is strong, the body is healthy, and the cage should be strong. Generally, the height is 48 cm, the diameter is 36 cm, the strip spacing is 2.2 cm, and the strip thickness is 0.4 cm. It can be made of bamboo or lead wire (14 gauge). Shark fish has one skin perch, one water tank and one soft food tank, which are deeper, larger and stronger than ordinary birds.

3. Feed and feeding method

Adult birds take eggs and rice as regular feed, and feed a soft food tank with minced meat, fruit (cut into small pieces), powder (same as the same) every morning. Thrush) mixed with soft food, the amount is limited to be eaten within 1-2 hours. Young bird food can be made by adding water or plantain to powder and minced meat. The pills are fed 5-8 times a day. When the bird can eat by itself, change it to soft food, and add eggs and millet after the feathers are full.

The myna has a lot of feces and it stinks, so it is necessary to clean the cage bottom and the fecal support board every other day. At the same time, the bird should be bathed frequently. You can put the myna in the water bath cage and let it take a bath by itself, or you can use a watering can to shower, and dry it in the sun after the water bath. Change the water in the water tank every day, because eating soft food often rinses the mouth, which is easy to contaminate.

It is best to teach birds to speak during the period from childhood to adulthood. Teach them on an empty stomach every morning and evening, and the surrounding environment should be quiet and free of noise. The syllables of the words to be taught should be fewer first and then more, and the second sentence should be taught after one sentence is learned. Every time you speak clearly, you will reward the birds with the food they like to eat. Like bananas, insects, etc. It needs to be repeated many times. Generally, it takes 3-7 days to learn a sentence. Those who can learn 10 sentences are excellent.

It is easiest to use an old bird belt that has learned to speak, and it will be quicker to teach the bird to look in the mirror when teaching. There is no scientific basis for the claim that the myna must perform some kind of operation on the tongue to learn to speak. Because most birds' vocal organs are located at the lower end of the trachea and at the branch of the bronchial song, which is produced by the contraction of the attached muscles, while the vocal cords of humans are at the upper end of the trachea.
