Cats can live much longer without food than humans because cats lose 40% of their body weight without dying (however, cats that lose 10%-14% of their body weight are generally fatal). For example, a tomcat named Chips from Liverpool, England, was inadvertently packed in a box of machine parts and shipped to Mombasa, Kenya.
