The best age for obedience training: Pomeranian obedience training can start at 2 months of age, but the best age is 6 months to 3 years old.

Methods

Stimuli used in training Stimuli used in training are divided into unconditioned stimuli and conditioned stimuli. Unconditioned stimuli include mechanical stimuli and food stimuli; conditioned stimuli mainly refer to commands, gestures, sounds, smells, etc.

(1) Mechanical stimulation. It mainly includes patting, pulling, pressing, tapping, etc. Among them, in addition to patting as a reward, the others are all compulsory.

(2) Food stimulation. When using food stimulation, good results can only be obtained when the dog shows sufficient interest in the food (starvation state). Small pieces of food can be used in training to entice the dog to make certain movements.

The advantage of food stimulation is that it can make the dog quickly form conditioned reflexes such as sitting, lying down, and coming, and can improve the dog's attachment to the owner. The disadvantage is that the dog's action is not easy to be accurate, and the dog that does not respond strongly to the food will fail to train when there is a new stimulus in the environment. If a combination of mechanical stimulation and food stimulation is used, that is, using mechanical stimulation to force the dog to make certain actions, and then rewarding it with food can achieve good results.

(3) Password. The combination of the password and the corresponding gesture can make the dog form a conditioned reflex to the password. Dogs do not understand the meaning of words, but they can correctly distinguish different tones of the same password, so according to different requirements for dogs, the tone and tone of the issued passwords should be different. The tone of the password in general training is divided into ordinary tone (medium volume). Threatening tone (stern voice). Bonus tone (soft voice).

The use of passwords should pay attention to the independence of tones, and the pronunciation should be concise and clear. Once adopted, the password cannot be changed at will, otherwise it will affect the training effect.

(4) Gestures. It is a kind of stimulation to command the dog with a certain posture and shape of the hand. When using gestures, attention should be paid to the independence and legibility of each gesture, and the stereotype and accuracy of gestures should be maintained. Gestures should be distinct from daily routines.
