Generally speaking, they are distinguished by a combination of body size and head shape. Those with a large and round head and a large body are female; those with a small and pointed head and a slender body are mostly male. Therefore, its gender needs to be carefully observed before it can be identified. It can also be identified by the observation of the cloaca. The cloaca of the female bird is slightly flatter than that of the male bird, and there is a circle of small feathers loosely around it; the cloaca of the male bird is a small cylindrical protrusion, and the top of the protrusion has bundles of small feathers.

Because young starlings have not molted yet, they can easily distinguish male and female starlings from their plumage. Generally, male starlings have black and bright hair, while female starlings have obvious gray feathers, or light black and not so shiny. After the myna has changed its feathers, the male myna stands tall and straight, majestic, active, shiny black, and particularly fond of singing; while the female myna is just the opposite.
