【Aquarium filter】The role of aquarium filter

2022-02-26 / 943 Read

FishAquarium filter is a device used to purify water and supplement oxygen in fish farming equipment. Its purpose is to remove feces and other contaminants in the water, keep the water clear, with sufficient oxygen, without harmful substances, No pollution, suitable for fish growth. With a good filter device in the fish tank, you can keep the fish well and change the water less.

1. The role of the aquarium filter:

1 . Absorb physical impurities in water.

2. The filter material in the filter must have the function of cultivating beneficial bacteria and decomposing harmful substances.

3. Make the water in the aquarium flow or circulate to supplement the oxygen needed for the growth of organisms.

Second, the filtration method of the aquarium filter:

1. Physical filtration, the filter material is filter cotton (coarse/fine).

Using the fibers in the filter cotton to block the insoluble impurities and wastes in the water. Physical filtration is an integral part of a filtration system. The filter cotton is often washed and replaced, which can effectively reduce the content of organic matter in the tank, thereby reducing the burden on the nitrification system, and then reducing the output of final mineral waste. Ignoring the filtration configuration scheme of physical filtration, to put it bluntly, is to treat the fish tank as a septic tank.

2. Chemical filtration, the filter material is ammonia absorbing stone, water softening resin, grass mud pill, activated carbon.

Using ammonite, water softening resin, grass mud pills, etc., through chemical methods, remove harmful substances soluble in water, or adjust the pH value (acidity); In addition, activated carbon is used in filtration , although it has a physical adsorption effect, it is still aimed at substances soluble in water, so here, it is easier to understand in this part of chemical filtration.

3. Biological filtration, the filter material is glass ring, biochemical ball, biochemical cotton, etc.

Using filter materials such as glass rings and biochemical balls to provide a good growth space for nitrifying bacteria, and use the biological action of nitrifying bacteria to convert toxic wastes produced by the metabolism of fish and aquatic plants into non-toxic substances. This is the most important part of keeping the water quality of the aquarium stable.

4. Other functions: For example, the filtered water flow can also wash and clean the leaves of water plants, promote fish swimming and exercise, and prevent water temperature stratification, etc. These are incidental positive effects.
