Veterinarians say that wolves/cats are also allergic to allergens like pollen, just like us. Allergy symptoms in cats can manifest as chestnut-like skin disease, usually with small scabs or hair loss on the head and neck. Spring is here, the weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer, however, there is an uninvited guest, and that is allergies.

Now we need to change our minds, from pets to think about allergies. For this week's Strange Animal Q&A, we'll answer Emily Tye's question, Can cats be allergic to dogs, or can dogs be allergic to cats?
We also want to know, are they allergic to Allergic to us humans?
The answer is yes, says Raelynn Farnsworth of Washington State University's Department of Veterinary Medicine.
Although rare, dogs are allergic to cat and human dander. Cats are also allergic to dog and human dander. All living things do.
Dander are small particles that shed from hair, fur and feathers and are produced by pets and people alike. Pet allergens also include flea saliva and certain foods.
What to do if you're sick
Inflammation of the skin and body itching are the most common allergy symptoms in dogs, Farnsworth said. There are also sneezing and runny nose, and it is time to take it to see a doctor. Allergy symptoms in cats can manifest as chestnut-like skin disease, usually small scabs or hair loss on the head and neck, and skin disease can appear anywhere on the body.
We have to look at how long the pet has had allergies, which is important data, year-round allergies indicate food allergies, or something in the home that may be causing pets allergies, not seasonal allergens.
Fortunately, pets can be tested for environmental allergens, which include both seasonal and non-seasonal allergens, Christine Cain of the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Veterinary Medicine told us.
Dogs are usually checked for allergies to cat dander, Cain said. A tiny bit of the allergen is placed under the skin, similar to a human allergy test.
Vets also check for common allergens such as dust mites, human dander, common feathers, wool, and pollen, Farnsworth said. These are the common culprits of pet allergies, but because they live with humans, they can be allergic to anything, and a common allergy test can't catch them all.
Allergic to Bluestars
So what if pets are allergic to you?
Pets are allergic to human skin, says Cain Allergies to crumbs are a heavy blow to the shit shoveling officer, but you don't need to be separated. If a pet is allergic to human dander, it is also allergic to other allergens. That said, veterinarians can cure allergies by getting an allergy shot that contains a small amount of the allergen or by taking an oral liquid to make the pet's immune system ignore the allergen.
Of course, the cats might pretend to be allergic to dogs, hoping that the stupid blue star would send Ah Wang away. (So cruel!)
