The Ragdoll is a large, cute and docile long-haired cat with large, beautiful blue eyes. Ragdolls are colored like Siamese cats, with lighter body parts and a darker face, legs, tail and ears. In most color patterns, some white markings may appear at these ends. An ideal Ragdoll cat must be well-balanced, with no extreme features. Spayed male ragdoll cats can grow to 20 pounds (closer to 10 kilograms) or even heavier; female cats are relatively small. Ragdolls are a late breed, their coat color is not full enough until at least 2 years old, and their size and weight are not fully developed until at least 4 years old.
Ragdoll has a very close relationship with people. They will run to the door to greet you, follow you from room to room, lie on top of you, sleep with you, and love you with all their heart. They are very tame, are often careful to avoid scratching people, and get along well with children, the elderly and dogs. Ragdolls generally like to move on the flat ground and are not keen on jumping up and down. They think that people prefer a soft meow to a loud howl, so they will sound soft and sweet.
Ragdolls are considerate of their owners' busy lives, so they lick and groom their medium-length silky coats. If we want to comb their hair, we can comb it with a steel needle comb (stroking it with one hand, combing it with the other hand; stroking it with one hand, combing it with the other hand... .), but most Ragdolls do not need grooming. They rarely shed or form hairballs, and they are graceful and eager to please.
The Ragdoll is available in 4 color patterns: Bicolor, Sanskrit, Gloves and Point Color. The patterns are available in 6 colors: seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red and cream. The extremities can be solid, lynx or tortoiseshell. The CFA accepts only two-color and vanilla colors for competition; gloves and point colors can only be registered.
The point color Ragdoll has a classic Siamese cat pattern. The glove puppets seemed to have just jumped into the bowl of cream to steal a bite: they had fluffy white jaws, like their white gloves and boots. The two-tone doll looks like it's swimming in a pool of cream, with a face that looks like it's just eaten a big meal. The four paws, belly, chest, and the inverted V-shaped part of the face are all white, and there may also be one or two white markings on the back. Only the parts other than their tails, ears, and chevrons show darker colors. The Sanskrit Muppets looked as if they were sinking to the bottom of a pool of cream. Only the upper part of the face, ears and tail, and very few parts of the body may be darker.
The Ragdoll was discovered in the 1960s by Amberco, a breeder in California, USA. She bred some large, lazy cats by crossing a Siamese longhair cat named Josephine with other Siamese longhair cats. She carefully selected some breeding cats on the basis of the breeding plan, and established the basic standard of Ragdoll cats.
The price of Ragdolls often depends on size, pattern and pedigree. Breeders usually don't transfer kittens until they are 12 to 16 weeks old. Because after 12 weeks the kittens have received the most basic vaccinations, and are physically and psychologically able to adapt to the new living environment, can participate in competitions or be airlifted. Please keep these valuable pets indoors, neuter them and provide a suitable living environment (such as a scratching board) to accommodate their scratching habits (CFA opposes that cat owners do Toe claw removal surgery), these are the basic conditions to maintain their health, longevity and happiness.
