History:

Originated in California, USA, but until Breeding began in 1983, and became a rare new member of the world. Said to be derived from black which was discarded in 1981. The incidence of curled ears is only 50% in those born to parents of American curl-eared cats. At birth, the appearance is the same as usual, and gradually begins to change after 4-7 days of birth, forming curled ears. The Aijiao character that matches her appearance is generally rising in popularity now. In 1986, it was registered by the Cat Fanciers Association, and at the 1993 Championships, it set the precedent for the Cat Fanciers Association to officially recognize a breed with two coat lengths as a champion.
