1. Required tools: 

a. Snake needle: According to the size of your snake, choose a snake needle of suitable thickness. Too young can easily injure the inside of the snake. Too thick will cause resistance when inserting.

b. Alcohol: Disinfect the snake needle

c. Lubricant: Lubricate the snake needle before inserting into the cloaca, I use vaseline

d. Cover the breeding box: it will be explained below

2,3. Put the head of the snake in the box, leave the tail outside, and then cover it with a cloth as shown in Figure 3, so as to prevent the snake during the cloaca exploration process. Probe out

4. I am used to catching snakes with my left hand and needles with my right. tail out. In the process of probing, the snakes will definitely feel uncomfortable, and they will definitely want to escape, so the two points of x in the picture must be grasped. Because the needle is inserted, the snake will inevitably run away and wiggle. If the two points of x are not grasped tightly, the needle will easily hurt the inside.

5. Sterilize the needle, apply lubricant, and place it in front of the cloaca to prepare.

6. Insert the needle, remember to use gentle force, and gently drill into it. When the resistance is reached, you can drill gently again, and the resistance will stop, and write down the length. Then withdraw the needle

7. Measure the length. In the picture, the length of the snake needle is about 2 or 3 scales. So this snake is a female snake. The male snake will measure 10 scales.

Reminder, if your snake is neurotic, it is best to choose a place that is easy to clean, such as a toilet. It's also easier to clean up when they're squirting.
