The wire snake is the smallest snake in the world, with a very small body, generally less than 15 cm.

The tail of the wire snake is very short, only four or five millimeters long, and it is almost invisible . The dorsal and ventral surfaces of the wire snake have round scales of similar size, and the whole body is dark olive green with purplish red flashes. A wire snake's mouth and tail tip are pale blue. From the appearance point of view, the wire snake has no eyes. In fact, the eyes of wire snakes are hidden under the scales of the head, but the eyes of wire snakes are very small and have lost their photosensitive function, so they are not easy to be found.
