The snake body of the Amazon electric snake is slightly slender, generally more than 1 meter, and the eyes are large and round. The back is tan or olive gray, the back of the trunk and the edges of the scales on the back of the tail are dark brown, and the whole is slightly reticulated.

The upper lip and back are gray-brown, and there are black-brown vertical lines in the center of each dorsal scale on the middle and rear of the body, and the front and back are connected to form black-brown vertical lines. ; ventral surface pale yellow.
