Belcher's sea snake is not a protected animal, it is an exotic species.

Belcher's sea snakes mostly live around reefs in the Ashmore Islands in northwestern Australia and can grow up to about 3 meters in length. They inhabit the coastal waters, especially in brackish estuaries, and feed on fish.

Belcher's sea snake is gentle and prefers shallow waters around continental shelves and islands Medium habitat, rarely seen in open ocean water depths greater than 100 m. Some Belcher's sea snakes prefer to stay in muddy water with sandy or muddy bottoms, while others prefer to move in clear water around coral reefs.
