The mouse snake is the larger of the non-venomous snakes produced in China. The adult mouse snake is long and thick, generally above 1500mm, and some can reach about 2000mm. Characteristics

Mouse snake cheek scales are generally 3 pieces, back scales are generally 19-17-14 lines, and abdominal scales are generally 185 or more. The head is long, the eyes are large and round, the pupil is round, the narrow part is slightly concave, the narrow scale is generally 3, the hemipenis is not forked and cylindrical. Cheek scales 3 or 4, eyes 2 or 5 less, easy to distinguish from other snakes. There are 19 rows of dorsal scales on the neck, 17 rows in the middle of the body, 14 rows in the front of the anus, 189 to 193 rows of ventral scales, and 100 to 118 pairs of lower caudal scales. The back is yellowish-brown, with black reticulate or horizontal stripes behind the body, the ventral surface is yellowish-white, the posterior edge of the ventral scale and the lower tail scale is black, sometimes yellowish-white.
